Many of the meditative exercises are dependent on visualization exercises. Visualization is creative and controlled use of imagination to serve a particular purpose. It can be as simple as focusing the mind on past good experiences, imagining a comeback from a set back, imagining being freed from the pangs of bad habits and many other different exercises. Scientific studies prove that the actual benefit of visualization exercises are multiplied by inducing a state of physical relaxation and mental calmness. One of the pioneer research in the field proved over a period of 20 years that the positive effect on nervous system and immune cells is profound when visualization is followed in a strategic manner by physical and mental relaxation. Most of us have heard of the famous ‘Sylva system of Mind Control’ where he advises to meditate for a short time and help us to have brain waves that stand for relaxed states of mind. Then we are advised to visualize. Many researches and good acclaim is in favor of the positive benefits of these exercises for emotional health. The common sense also tells that whatever part we exercise, will be stronger. When we are struck in emotional and mental problems, we are bound to focus our attention on so much unproductive and negative aspects. Then if we consciously make little efforts to channelize the energy of our thoughts, feelings and emotions in small ways to better and healthier aspects of life, they will definitely and gradually become stronger and help us getting rid of these agonies.
